The Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor, Chief Dr. Vivian Ogheneovo has congratulated women in Udu Kingdom and across Delta State the world celebrates International Women’s Day today, March 8, 2026.
In a goodwill message issued to commemorate the global event, Dr. Ogheneovo described women as indispensable pillars of society and key drivers of political, social, and economic development.
She emphasized that the importance of women in politics cannot be overstated, noting that their participation remains critical to effective governance and inclusive development.
According to her, “the importance of women in politics cannot be overemphasized because without women there can be no politics. Women play strategic roles in leadership, governance, and grassroots mobilization.”
Dr. Ogheneovo commended women in Udu Kingdom and Delta State for their resilience, contributions to community development, and active participation in the political process.
She also lauded the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for prioritising the welfare and empowerment of women through the administration’s MORE Agenda, which she said has continued to create opportunities and support for women across the state.
Dr. Ogheneovo further urged women to continue to support policies and programmes that promote gender equality, leadership inclusion, and socio-economic advancement.
She noted that this year’s International Women’s Day is celebrated with the theme “Give To Gain,” which emphasizes the need for collective support, investment, and opportunities for women in order to achieve sustainable progress and gender equality.
